Happy new year, everyone! New year, new ideas, new photos!!
Over this holiday, my cousin and her boyfriend were visiting from Denmark. Besides the fact that I absolutely loved to have them here, I have to share a shoot that we did on one of our last days. It’s a funny thing when you love being a photographer; you wake up in the morning and want to take pictures, you carry your camera with you always, you constantly see things in a way that makes you think, “Oh, that would be a great shot!” And you get the feeling sometimes that people are wondering, “Is she ever going to put that thing down?!” So when it comes to my family, I try not to bug them with photo ideas. But one night, after lots of conversation, Lise mentioned a photo I took of my mother (a one-time, one-shot deal because she hates when I take photos around her). Lise says, “My mother told me she really wishes you could take a photo of her like that.” And a bit later, “I wish you could take my photo.” Then Jakob, her boyfriend, “Yeah, me too!” Yay!! Photo time!!! So we went somewhere that was perfectly “LA,” perfectly California-Holiday… the Santa Monica Pier and beach.
Now this got me to thinking. Lise and Jakob live together, have a great life, but they aren’t planning a wedding. They aren’t engaged. But they would still like some fun photos! Why not?! Weddings are a complete onslaught of things to do: planning, engagement, family parties, bachelor and bachelorette parties, showers, tastings, fittings, dress shopping, gift-buying… on and on. So why not have some photos done when you aren’t so crazed with obligations?! Or… why not have some photos done later, a year or two later, once you’ve sort of settled in? Or for an anniversary? Or… for a Valentine’s treat?! Just a thought! 😉
So with that, here is Lise & Jakob’s couple’s photo shoot. Enjoy!
